STORY
Terrapin Cellars began modestly in 2000 when we purchased Pinot Gris grapes and produced 97 cases of wine. The following year we added Pinot Noir and in 2004 we started making a port style wine from Tempranillo grapes. As owners and operators of a vineyard management company we nurture the vines throughout the year. This offers us a unique perspective to really know the fruit from each vineyard and see its undiscovered potential.
The Willamette Valley is an ideal region for cool climate varietals like Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris because of the long growing season, the soils and abundance of excellent vineyard sites. We employ sustainable viticulture practices that grow the best possible grapes on each site we manage. The grapes used in our wines come from several of these sites which can vary from vintage to vintage.
Our philosophy in the winery is minimal intervention to preserve the unique blend of grapes that come from the vineyards we manage. Ultimately, we strive to produce outstanding, value priced wine that can be enjoyed on special occasions or in a casual setting with friends and family.

2022 Pinot Noir

The grapes come from the Chemeketa viticulture school vineyard in the Eola Amity Hills just outside of Salem, Oregon. The grapes were harvested on October 19, 2022. The wine was aged in 12% new oak.

The wine has aromas of red fruit, including plum and Rainier cherry, dried herb, chocolate and aromatics of seasoned wood. Flavors on the palate include plum, cherry, cocoa with pleasing acidity against a backdrop of mild mouth filling tannins that achieve a balance among fruit, herb and earth.

2024 Pinot Gris

This wine has a wonderful bouquet of tropical fruit, pear and honeysuckle. This aromatic wine has bright acidity balanced with flavors of Asian pear, green apple, pineapple and lemon zest. Slightly effervescent mouthfeel leads to a pleasing finish.

2024 Pinot Noir
Sophie's Reserve

The grapes come from the Johnson Ridge Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. The Vineyard is at 600 feet elevation on a steep south facing slope. The vines are closely spaced with a density of 2,400 plants/acre. The wine is a blend of Pommard and 777 clones. We harvested the grapes on October 5th, 2024. The wine was aged 10 months in 30% new French oak barrels and bottled on August 27th, 2025.

This wine has wonderful aromas of ripe cherry, violets, and 5 spice. A medium bodied wine with pleasing acidity and refined tannins give it a velvety texture in the mouth. Cherry, spice, chocolate flavors, a silky mouthfeel and a long finish make for an incredibly joyful wine.

2024 Rose’ of Tempranillo

This rose’ has enticing aromas of peach and ripe strawberry on the nose. The bright fresh acidity is beautifully balanced with flavors of tropical fruit, lime and green apple on the palate leading to a pleasingly juicy finish.
